Roald Dahl Collection – 15 Paperback Book Boxed Set Paperback – Box set, 2013
Author: Roald Dahl ID: 0141349980

About the Author

Roald Dahl, the best-loved of children’s writers, was born in Wales of Norwegian parents. His books continue to be bestsellers, despite his death in 1990, and total UK sales are 55 million worldwide! Quentin Blake is one of the best-known and best-loved children’s illustrators and it’s impossible now to think of Roald Dahl’s writings without imagining Quentin Blake’s illustrations.

Series: Roald Dahl Collection – 15 Fantastic StoriesPaperbackPublisher: Puffin Books; 15 Book Boxed Set edition (2013)Language: EnglishISBN-10: 0141349980ISBN-13: 978-0141349985 Product Dimensions: 8 x 5.2 x 8 inches Shipping Weight: 5.9 pounds Best Sellers Rank: #4,516 in Books (See Top 100 in Books) #135 in Books > Literature & Fiction > Short Stories & Anthologies > Short Stories #183 in Books > Literature & Fiction > Classics

Excellent books for children of all ages; maybe the little ones will need an adult to read to them some of the stories with the most complex vocabulary, like the BFG, but there is a rich variety of stories for children of all ages. Adults will enjoy them too. "Boy" and "Going Solo" may be more appropriate for older kids and adults. My 5 year old asked for this set as a birthday present, I’m sure he’ll be thrilled!

Dahl is my favorite children’s book writer and this is a nice little deal, 15 books for 40 something bucks. I hope my six-year-old niece enjoys these titles as much as I did when I was a kid. It’s cool she’ll have a nice collection on her dresser and hope it begins to inspire a love of reading.

The stories speak for themselves. They’re classics! I’d pay double for these stories alone, without the bells and whistles that come with the box set. That being said, the packaging is attractive as well!

I’m reading these to my son.

Horribly overpriced for a book, but I’m a student and don’t have a lot of options. It was a pretty interesting read though, a lot better than other monotonous textbooks.

bought this as a book for school but ended up keeping it because of how informative it is

The book has major water damage, and full sections are falling out. The binding is worn to the point it could tear open at any page turned to quickly.

Practicing Positive Psychology Coaching: Assessment, Activities and Strategies for Success Kindle Edition

File Size: 1090 KBPrint Length: 193 pagesPage Numbers Source ISBN: 0470536764Publisher: Wiley; 1 edition (August 5, 2010)Publication Date: August 5, 2010 Sold by:  Digital Services, Inc. Language: EnglishID: B003Z0CQW2Text-to-Speech: Enabled X-Ray: Not Enabled Word Wise: Not EnabledLending: Enabled Enhanced Typesetting: Not Enabled Best Sellers Rank: #285,383 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store) #40 in Kindle Store > Kindle eBooks > Nonfiction > Science > Biological Sciences > Biology > Microbiology #72 in Kindle Store > Kindle eBooks > Health, Fitness & Dieting > Counseling & Psychology > Occupational & Organizational #213 in Books > Medical Books > Psychology > Occupational & Organizational

yes, I am biased but you won’t find me writing reviews for every person who is my colleague and friend in the field of psychology. I promote what I am comfortable standing behind (and what I actually read and enjoy). Biswas-Diener’s first book on the topic was an overview of the science of positive psychology. This follow-up emphasizes practical applications that can be used in coaching, therapy, consulting, and education. The chapters include unfamiliar territory. In sections on strengths, positivity, and hope (topics we are used to seeing), Robert provides new insights such as a killer overview of the relationship of strengths and weaknesses, as well as specific practical ideas that you can adopt instantaneously. Unusual topics include positive diagnosis, in which Robert presents brand new ideas on multi-axial diagnosis in the context of appreciating positive situations and personal attributes. There is also a chapter on positive assessments reprinted in full–ranging from meaning in life to curiosity, along with specific suggestions for how to use these, including open-ended questions that can be used to debrief clients. One of the best features of this book, and one of the reasons I collaborate with him so often, is that the guy simply knows how to write (unlike the vast majority of scientists or coaches). He veers away from an academic tone (jargon, abstract and nebulous concepts) and the book is filled with playful and emotionally provocative personal anecdotes–choosing sports teams in grade school, climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro, etc. Having seen him speak, he is the master of storytelling. I highly recommend this book. If you don’t like it, its you not the book. seriously.

As a certified and credentialed coach, I found that this book ‘hits the mark’ in a few important ways:

1. The activities and assessments are presented in a clear, straight-forward manner, making them easy to implement in every-day coaching discussions with clients.
2. It’s all grounded in scientific evidence, with extensive end notes, as well as "further reading" at the end of each chapter. This is NOT some woo-woo self-help book: it’s got solid references and I LOVE that.
3. The book is written in an easy-to-read, conversational style, with loads of interesting examples and fascinating stories. If you’re looking for a dry, laborious read, you’ll have to look somewhere else.

That the author is both a psychologist AND a trained coach makes the book truly great: he understands the kinds of discussions we have with our clients, and so his suggestions make sense (i.e. they are not hypothetical practices).

I am a big fan of Robert Biswas-Diener (I loved his first book, too). I only wish I had found his stuff sooner.

This is an excellent book for anyone who is a coach and uses Positive Psychology in their work with clients or would like to begin.

Robert’s writing is very succinct and easy to read. He gets to the point without making the topic too big and scary, but easy to implement. He writes in a manner that is very easy to digest and have fun at the same time.

The book is set up in a format that is easy to follow so you can find what you are looking for with ease.

Whether you are a seasoned coach or just beginning this book is one you must have on your shelve. You will find yourself going back to it over and over.

Great Job Robert!
